Handcrafted from an exceptionally rare slab of spalted maple, this one-of-a-kind coffee table showcases two highly prized natural characteristics in a single piece: dramatic spalting and beautiful curling throughout the grain.
Rather than forcing the wood into a conventional shape, we allowed its natural edge, markings, openings, and movement to guide the design. Deep sapphire blue epoxy flows alongside the maple and fills its natural voids, creating the impression of dark water moving around a weathered shoreline.
The result is dramatic without being loud — a functional piece of furniture that reveals something different every time the light moves across it.
Spalting creates the dark lines and organic markings running through the maple, while natural curl gives portions of the grain an almost dimensional quality.
