Midnight Cask – Black Walnut & Black Epoxy Pub Table

There are tables that simply hold your drink, and then there are tables that become part of the evening.

Midnight Cask was handcrafted for the latter.

At the heart of this one-of-a-kind pub table is a striking slab of black walnut, chosen for its rich natural color, dramatic grain, and beautifully irregular live edges. Rather than cutting away those organic contours, we preserved them and surrounded them with deep black epoxy resin, allowing the shape of the wood itself to determine the design.

The result is a 36-inch round tabletop where warm walnut seems to emerge from pools of midnight-black resin. Natural knots and openings within the slab have also been filled with black epoxy, highlighting features that belong uniquely to this particular piece of wood. Look closely and the tabletop changes from every angle—the grain shifts, the resin catches the light, and details that initially disappear into the dark surface suddenly reveal themselves.

A glossy epoxy flood coat finishes the entire top, intensifying the walnut's warmth and giving the black resin its deep, almost liquid appearance.

A Pub Table With Presence

Midnight Cask stands 43 inches tall on an ornate black cast-iron pedestal base. Its traditional detailing gives the table a completely different character from the clean industrial legs often paired with live-edge furniture.

The combination works beautifully: organic wood, contemporary resin, and an old-world-style pedestal.

At 36 inches in diameter, the tabletop offers plenty of room for two place settings, cocktails, wine and appetizers without requiring the footprint of a full dining table. It's equally at home creating an intimate dining spot, anchoring a home bar, furnishing a wine room, or becoming the gathering place in a small kitchen or entertaining space.

Style it formally with stemware and linens, casually with a couple of stools and drinks, or leave the surface completely bare. The walnut provides plenty of drama all by itself.

Midnight Cask isn't a design we can reproduce exactly.

The grain pattern, knots, natural edges and resin boundaries all came from this individual slab of black walnut. Another table could be inspired by it, but there will never be another Midnight Cask.

That's part of what we love about working with natural wood: its imperfections aren't defects to disguise. They're where the design begins.
